My name is Scott Strange and I have been a Type 1 diabetic since 1970. Strangely Diabetic is my story of how diabetes has affected my life and how my life was changed when I learned that I wasn’t alone in this chronic condition. I want to share my experiences with other diabetics, so they can hopefully avoid some of the things that made me truly suffer. Diabetes was probably the least of those things.
I advocate for patients to become actively engaged, not only in managing their condition; but in stepping forward to lead their health-care team and to communicate with other diabetics either online or in person.
It took me nearly 40 years to realize that I was not alone in living with diabetes. At the time, I didn’t even know that I needed the support of other diabetics who truly understand; but I finally found the support I needed and it has changed my life.
